FW22 Fashion trends: five must-have accessories

The accessories industry is a billion dollar business and is an integral part of any brand’s seasonal offerings. At FW22 designers showcased a variety of fun and even quirky items to accessorize their looks. These included men’s ties, knee high socks, baseball caps, futuristic sunglasses and faux fur hats and scarves.

With so many shorts, skirts and miniskirts on display, it makes sense that over-the-knee boots and socks are all the rage. After all, these looks are for fall and winter. At Max Mara, designer Ian Griffiths showed off a very unique gum-soled sock boot. As an alternative to boots, designers like Chanel and Hermés paired short looks with thigh-high socks. At Simone Rocha, they dazzled.

Designers including Rokh, Gucci, Raf Simons and Coperni added accessories to masculine looks with traditional menswear ties, which at Kenzo included the brand’s signature poppy logo. At Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière used a unisex silhouette reminiscent of Diane Keaton’s character Annie Hall.
Baseball caps may be considered “all-American,” but they also appeared on many runways in London, Milan, and Paris, including Patou, Courrèges, and Burberry. 1941 Coach and Gucci showed them in their brand logos, and they were available in over – Off-White size versions.

Despite the cold weather season, many designers showcased sunglasses, often in futuristic styles, at several fashion shows including Balenciaga, Dior and Acne Studios.

In recent years, most of the world’s major fashion designers have moved away from animal skins and FW22 faux fur is used in a variety of styles, including oversized headwear; at Gucci, Acne Studios, Balenciaga, 16 Arlington, LaQuan Smith and Versace.
